Smart meter with a remote control unit instead of integrated keypad 

Suitable for sites where the meter is installed in a location with poor access, such a meter cupboards.

This remote keypad is mounted on the wall of the apartment which is connected to the meter by the mains electricity cable.  This Power Line Communication (or PLC) is more reliable than WiFi and can be used in large sites with hundreds of meters are installed in meter rooms a long distance away from the apartments.  

This remote display displays the credit balance without the need to check the available information online.  It also allows tenants to manually enter a top-up code in the rare event that the mobile phone network is not working. 

These meters are supplied with 4 Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA batteries which act as a backup batteries to continue powering the display when the meter is not supplying electricity to the flat as it has run out of credit.  These batteries have a life expectancy of up to 20 years.

The remote control unit can either be installed using any three pin socket (cable attached) or hard wired.

This is a single phase meter which is suitable for residential and non industrial use (If you need a Three Phase meter then your electrician will have told you).

c)   we do not charge a daily standing charge, so no debt accrues during vacant periods.  This normally works out cheaper for tenants and landlords.  Instead we add a 15% margin (incl VAT) on the unit rate to cover our costs;

d)  smart meters are far better than than dumb STS meters - such as Metro, which cannot be read remotely.  They are more convenient as tenants don't have to enter token codes physically into the meter (except in rare occasions of mobile network failure), more tamper resistant, as well as accurately charge tariffs (such as day / night recover standing charges for landlords);

e)  telephone support for tenants from a UK based 24 x 7 help desk.
